A healthy lifestyle involves nuturing body, mind and spirit. One of the ways we do all 3 at once is to get outside for an adventure in the many beautiful places there are on this planet.

Recently we spent 3 days hiking on the stunning Banks Peninsular, NZ. Enforced disconnection from phones and the internet was bliss. Birdsong, babbling brooks, waves breaking and the wind in the trees were the dominant sounds. Twelve kilometres of hiking each day lead to sound sleeps. And we ate well👍 So a 3 day retreat for body, mind and spirit was well and truly achieved🌻

Summer fruit! Delish, right? Well it should be, but I’m finding so much of what is in the supermarket has been picked too early. Fruit that is not ripened enough on the tree/bush/plant often equates with less flavour and lower nutritional value. If you don’t grow your own or have access to a good farmers market, consider getting fruit direct from an orchard. Many in NZ have website ordering systems and the quality of the fruit that arrives at your door is WAY better.

What a year! I’m so happy to be having some much needed time out to top up the reserve tank again. So many people have had incredible challenges this year. Even those who have been able to ride the waves and see the silver lining need to recharge a bit. So take it and enjoy it💞 We all deserve it!

And so the wind down begins....I have a couple more online consults scheduled to go over urine and saliva lab test results with clients, but now have time to do a few Christmassy things.

I’m more of an ‘active holiday’ person than a lazing around type. I still enjoy lazing with a good book, but each day needs to have some sort of exercise woven into the mix for me to feel good. Today hubby and I ‘time blocked’ by walking to find lunch, Christmas prezzies and say hi to a friend. End result - dog is happy, the ‘to do’ list is shorter, we caught up with a couple of friends, had a good lunch and got a workout! Perfect 👍

Now I’m off to find that book ....

Exercise should nourish your whole being i.e body, mind and spirit. Tuning into your body and recognising how you are feeling in your entire being can help you decide how best to exercise on any given day. Some days we need to start exercising more gently and build the intensity if it feels right to do that. Other days might be more of a gentle active recovery day and some days you might be ready to push it right from the get go!💪The important thing is that you move your body!

Last time I hiked up Queenstown Hill it was a fast blast cardio workout the day before my wedding. I’d been spending a lot of time organising details and my exercise had been basic maintenance. That day I knew I needed to energise with a heart-pumping, qi moving push!

In contrast, today I wanted the workout, but the temperature was quite cool and I could feel my muscles and tendons needed to warm up for a bit longer. So I used this time in nature to meander a bit more, soak up some of Queenstown Hill’s powerful energy and smile at touches of light hearted vibes. The funny thing is, I actually went further, climbed more vertical and in close to the same amount of time as my last hike up here - but without feeling like it was an unenjoyable grind🌻
