This video shows what a healthy 12 week fetal scan This video shows what a healthy 12 week fetal scan looks like - watch that little heart beating strongly😀

One of my patients gave me this video of her scan today 🙏 I worked with her to help overcome endometriosis related issues for baby number one who is now a super cute 2 year old with sparkly eyes and loads of gorgeous mischief 😀 Now, after a few bumps in the road, a baby brother or sister is on the way for him and everyone is super excited - including me!💞
A diagnosis of ‘diminished ovarian reserve’ is A diagnosis of ‘diminished ovarian reserve’ is often given to women without much explanation as to what it really means in their particular situation. In the absence of explanation this news can trigger a huge amount of stress.

This diagnosis is usually given after having a blood test for AMH (anti-mullerian hormone) levels.

However sometimes a low reading just means you need to “crack on” with that baby making plan and not keep putting it off, if having a baby is important to you 🤰🏻On the other hand, sometimes the levels are barely discernible and this can severely impact your chance of having a baby, even with IVF. So it’s important you understand where you are on that spectrum and consider it within the context of your fertility journey to date.

Interestingly, many of my clients AMH levels often improve after a period of time when they have been focused on improving their fertility health. This usually involves changes to diet, lifestyle and prescription herbal medicine that is monitored and adjusted as their body responds. So we know an AMH level provides a useful comparative metric, but there are variables that can move it in either direction.
We recently found a fabulous 3 day hike we could i We recently found a fabulous 3 day hike we could include our fur baby on @islandhillsstation . Talk about a happy dog! She had some great new experiences in our beautiful NZ back country 🐕 Including flushing out a stag from the bush!! That was quite something! Hubby and I hiked 30km but she must have done 100!

The 3 of us swam together in crystal clear river pools, hiked by torchlight to see glow worms and slept fabulously on comfy beds. ‘Cushy hiking’ I call it but am also reminded to make sure people realise it is a real NZ track - just the kind we like i.e not a graded one.

We were able to travel light due to the fabulous pack drop off service farmer Shaun ran for us. That included carting in the dogs bedding and food 👍

The private track on this working station meanders up a valley, with a gentle climb over to the next one looping us back to where we started. Our total vertical climb over 3 days was about 1300 metres. It took us through forests of native bush (manuka and beech mainly), up rocky hillsides and across farmland that has largely been left to regenerate. This diversified farm also supports a fabulous honey enterprise with hives tucked away amidst the native bush. Needless to say we stocked up on a few jars before we left. Yum!

Having an active adventure every now and then that gives you a good few days of solid exercise, gets you away from internet/phone and switches you out of your usual routine is an amazing reset for your body and mind. In particular the amount of deep (restorative) sleep I get improves and the improvement lasts for some time (I track that and a bunch of other metrics using an @ouraring )

In NZ during these covid19 times, we have the luxury of being able to be spontaneous with our exploration of this beautiful country. We planned this adventure around weather forecasts and got it just perfect👍

Thanks Shaun @islandhillsstation for re-opening the track to the public. You provide a great service. We loved your radio telephone checkins ensuring we were accounted for each day and had updated weather forecasts. It was an awesome experience🙏
Lovely words from a patient of mine who asked me t Lovely words from a patient of mine who asked me to help her achieve pregnancy last year.

Many of the couples I work with will agree, the journey to getting their baby was not as easy as they thought it would be when they first decided it was time to start a family 🤔

7 months after coming off the pill this woman still wasn’t getting her period. So she tried drug options - but still couldn’t achieve return of a natural cycle and pregnancy 😢

By the time she contacted me she was 100% ready to embrace the diet changes required to better support her hormone metabolism and overall health 💪

I also prescribed herbs, adjusting her prescription as her body responded 👩‍⚕️

It’s important to know that just because a woman is getting her period, this does not mean she is ovulating. So we also tracked ovulation using basal temperature charting and urine test sticks.

Some months later a natural rhythm of ovulation and menstruation was restored and now she is happily pregnant. 👏💫👏👏🥳
A healthy lifestyle involves nuturing body, mind a A healthy lifestyle involves nuturing body, mind and spirit. One of the ways we do all 3 at once is to get outside for an adventure in the many beautiful places there are on this planet.

Recently we spent 3 days hiking on the stunning Banks Peninsular, NZ. Enforced disconnection from phones and the internet was bliss. Birdsong, babbling brooks, waves breaking and the wind in the trees were the dominant sounds. Twelve kilometres of hiking each day lead to sound sleeps. And we ate well👍 So a 3 day retreat for body, mind and spirit was well and truly achieved🌻
Summer fruit! Delish, right? Well it should be, bu Summer fruit! Delish, right? Well it should be, but I’m finding so much of what is in the supermarket has been picked too early. Fruit that is not ripened enough on the tree/bush/plant often equates with less flavour and lower nutritional value. If you don’t grow your own or have access to a good farmers market, consider getting fruit direct from an orchard. Many in NZ have website ordering systems and the quality of the fruit that arrives at your door is WAY better.

What a year! I’m so happy to be having some much needed time out to top up the reserve tank again. So many people have had incredible challenges this year. Even those who have been able to ride the waves and see the silver lining need to recharge a bit. So take it and enjoy it💞 We all deserve it!

Huge love🌻
