🎄Merry Christmas everyone! ✝️
Like many of you, I'm taking a well earned break for a couple of weeks.
It's shaping up to be a white Christmas where I am in the French Alps ❄️ So I'm really looking forward to topping up my vitality tank with some quality family time and an over indulgence of skiing ⛷Alpine, back-country, cross country - I'll take whatever is on offer!
🎅 At the moment, we are going through the preparation phase, starting with list writing in front of a roaring fire: 🔥Christmas tree, find the decorations, gather up a few prezzies, see what today's Saturday farmers market has, take the skis in for a tune-up, schedule the family's airport and train station pick ups etc etc📝
I've always been aware of how quickly time passes and how important it is how we choose to use it. Whether we make a decision or don't make a decision about something, we are in fact making a decision - to either act, or not act. Whichever we choose, there are consequences.
This time of year is always a period of reflection for me. I look back over the year and contemplate what worked well for me, what didn't work so well and how I could do things differently to serve both myself and others better. I also take time to look at my years highlights and opportunities for growth.
Professionally, it's been really lovely to end this year with so many clients who have achieved healthy pregnancy and babies 👼 Christmas takes on a whole new meaning when our dreams of family are realised, doesn't it ❤️ I love that so many of you who have worked with me in the past, have stayed in touch over the years and I've been able to see your gorgeous babies grow into young adults. They are truly amazing chronometers showing how fast time really does go by!
The beginning of a New Year always brings a flurry of new clients who are ready to start a new page on their fertility journey. For those of you who decide you are ready to make a change, I look forward to hearing from you. The first thing we will do together, is arrange a time to talk, so that I can answer any of your questions.

My recent Facebook post was a recorded answer to someone in one of my Q & A groups who was struggling to conceive even though she was sure she was ovulating. She asked what what else she might need to be considering.

Without having much background information I discussed a range of investigations that would be worth considering.

I’ve really enjoyed researching for this presentation. There’s really good research going on in the area of fertility that is not drug focused. This is part of what I use when working with my clients. Looking outside the box means asking more questions and not settling with the status quo.

Got the badge so now it must be official! I’m part of the WFAS 2019 faculty sharing at the International Consensus on Acupuncture and Complememtary Medicine, in Antalya, Turkey.

I am speaking about the impact of mental health on fertility, pregnancy and neo-natal health. I’ll be discussing the research showing why intervention using a natural or integrated medicine approach, rather than a pharmaceutical one alone, is so important.

When I got back to my room recently, I found my bed decorated with this 🦋 Butterflies are symbolic of transformation and this one got me thinking because at the moment, all around me are people experiencing varying degrees of challenge with a phase of transformation.
🎂It might be a stage of life change - a transition through childhood to teens, to adulthood and through the decades of our lives.
👩🏻‍💻Or a career move or promotion with a whole lot of extra/new challenges.
🏡Or the challenges of moving into new community
💞Or the changes that come with the deepening of a relationship commitment
👼Or the birth of a child
😢 Or challenges such as loss of loved ones through death, or relationship break downs; struggles with health, fertility or unrealised dreams.
🦋 In some situations it can be hard to connect with the ‘silver lining’ and sometimes we may not see one until way further down the track. These can be times when people reach deeper into their spiritual life or find comfort in philosophical teachings. For some another path reveals itself and takes them in a new direction. Rather than becoming hard, cynical, lost or bitter, these people find meaning, opportunity to evolve in some way and allow their hearts to soften ❤️ It’s hard to feel philosophical and to see the good in a situation when you are hurt, angry, disillusioned and feeling out of control! Now - hopefully only half way through my life and in my 50’s - I can tell you I’ve been there many times! I get it!
But I also accept that is part of life. When I look back, often what I really wanted and didn’t get, actually worked out well in some way for me. The struggles with my health many years ago, the challenges to have my second child, the relationships that didn’t progress, the deals that fell through ... the list would be quite long I imagine if I really wanted to dwell on it!
For sure, I’ve had seasons of grieving for how I wanted things to be and have been through huge heart-aches and stress with my family, work and finances at times. But it’s also true my greatest struggles have been my greatest teachers. Our life stories are not complete yet - they are still unfolding.

🤔Find out where your food comes from.
🔍If you’re eating anything that is pre-made, read the label and understand what is in it. Look up those numbers.
👍Go as natural as you can.
🤷‍♂️Be aware that eating organically does not necessarily mean something has to be have a “certified organic” label attached to it. If the truth be known, even if it does, it may not be 100% organic anyway 🤷‍♀️ Organic certification labelling laws vary from country to country and in pretty much all of them there is a degree of tolerance that means you will rarely know if something is truly 100% organic. The only way to know the most about what you are eating, is if you grow it yourself or are able to ask the growers 👩‍🌾 That’s why I love farmers markets or specialist stores - they can tell you the stories behind their products.

My favourite hot weather snacks. Note the imperfections in the skins - a clue that minimal sprays, if any, have been used. Ugly often means it’s more beautiful actually - beautiful on the inside, which is of course what really counts. 🍌🍍🍉Most of what is in this fruit bowl is locally grown and super delicious. The exception - the shiny, red, perfect looking red apples underneath🍎 They’re still crisp and nice enough but nothing beats tree ripened, local fruit for a flavour explosion😋
